Staffordshire Police are appealing for information following the launch of a murder enquiry into the death of a woman who has now been formally identified as Carol Matthews in Weston Coyney.

Details of Incident

Staffordshire Police are continuiing to appeal for information after a man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Stoke-on-Trent. 

It comes after Police were called to a house in Denton Grove, Weston Coyney at around 8.40am  (Friday 22 March).

Officers went to the scene with paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Sadly, a woman in her 70s was found dead inside.

We can now formally identify her as Carol Matthews, aged 73, from Stoke-on-Trent

We have deployed specially-trained officers to support her family and loved ones at this deeply traumatic time.

Peter Matthews, aged 79, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with murder.
