Officers are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the Hanley town centre area during daylight hours on Thursday (4th August 2022 ) to get in touch. Detectives are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw an individual remove and discard clothing or drop an item into a drain.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man was found dead in Stoke-on-Trent on Monday 8th August 2022.

Police were called to an address at Cromwell Court, Stoke-on-Trent, at around 6.30pm, following reports of a sudden death.

Officers attended as did colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Sadly, Florin Dumitru Ciurar, aged 37, (pictured) who was formally identified on Thursday 11 August, was pronounced dead by paramedics a short time later.

Specially-trained officers are supporting Florin’s family.

A post-mortem examination has confirmed that Florin died as a result of stab wounds.

A 45-year-old man, of no-fixed-address, was arrested a short time later on suspicion of murder.

He remains in police custody.
