Detectives are continuing enquiries following a suspicious death in Armadale.

Around 11.50am on Saturday, 12 September, 2026, police received a report a man had been injured within a property on Harestanes Road.

Emergency services attended and a 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified and is being supported by specialist officers.

A postmortem examination will take place in due course, and the death is currently being treated as suspicious.

Officers are also investigating two other incidents which occurred that evening, a car fire in the Netherhouses area and a fire at a derelict building on Wotherspoon Road. Given the timings and locations of these incidents, officers are working on the theory they could be linked to the man’s death.

The burnt-out car, a Blue BMW 1 Series, has been seized by officers and is undergoing a forensic examination.

Detective Superintendent Michelle Findlay, of the Major Investigations Team, said: “Our enquiries have indicated this attack was targeted. Extensive enquiries remain ongoing as we work to establish the full circumstances of what has happened. This includes door-to-door enquiries in the local area as well as a detailed review of all available CCTV footage.

“I am asking people to check private CCTV and doorbell cameras for any images that may have been captured which could be important. Likewise, if you were driving in the area and have dash-cam, please check your footage and pass on an image you think could be relevant. If you have any information, no matter how insignificant you think it is, please pass it on, it could be vital to our ongoing enquiries.”

Superintendent Jocelyn Thomson said: "I understand people will be concerned about these incidents and a significant police presence remains in the area. However, this has been a targeted attack, and a team of experienced officers is working on the case. I have every confidence that they will find out who has committed this crime. Additional patrols will be in the area and anyone with concerns can approach these officers.”
