Police Scotland are appealing for information following the death of a man in Airdrie on Thursday 18 September 2025.


Details of Incident

A murder enquiry has been launched following the death of a man in Airdrie.

Around 12.15am on Thursday, 18 September, 2025, officers were called to a report of two men injured on Hamilton Drive.

Emergency services attended and a 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 27-year-old man was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Detective Chief Inspector Bob Williamson from the Major Investigation Team said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died. We are providing them with support as our investigation continues.

“An extensive investigation is being carried out, including door-to-door enquiries and we are examining CCTV footage of the area.

“We urge anyone with any information to contact us. Please think back – do you remember seeing or hearing anything whilst in the area?

“Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could be vital.”

Local area commander, Chief Inspector Lesley Docherty said: “We understand the significant impact this will have on the community and we would like to thank everyone for their help so far.

“We would like to reassure you that everything is being done to trace who is responsible. Officers remain in the area as enquiries continue.

“Anyone with any concerns can speak to officers.
