Bismark House Mill Fire, Oldham, Greater Manchester
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is appealing for information following the discovery of a body, by demolition workers, at Bismark House Mill, Miles Street, Oldham on Saturday 23 July 2022.
On Saturday 7 May 2022, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) attended a fire at the premises which was extinguished over four days. At that time, there was no information to suggest that anyone was working or living within the mill and the cause of the fire was unknown.
On Thursday 21 July 2022, GMP was made aware that Vietnamese nationals may have been present.
A major incident has been declared and an investigation opened to establish the identity of the deceased, who was in the mill at the time and the full circumstances surrounding the fire.
