Devon & Cornwall - Exercise FAIRWIND

On 25th February 2026, a Penzance Helicopter’s Sikorsky S-76 helicopter was departing Tresco Heliport bound for Penzance Heliport with 9 passengers and 1 pilot on board. The aircraft started its departure from the Eastern end of the airfield and as it gained the necessary speed of 30-40 knots, it sustained a catastrophic mechanical failure. This caused the pilot to affect an emergency landing, resulting in the aircraft sustaining significant damage as it hit the ground.
