Murder Investigation - Heol Catwg in Caewern, Neath

The Major Crime Investigations Team at South Wales Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man’s body at an address in the Heol Catwg area of Neath on Wednesday April 27th


The body of the victim has not yet been identified and officers are conducting enquiries to identify his next of kin.


An incident room has been set up at Cockett Police Station and detectives investigating the murder are keen to hear from anybody who may have heard or seen anything suspicious between 08:00hrs on Monday April 25th and 13:00hrs Wednesday April 27th.


A police cordon remains in place in the area while crime scene investigators and specialist search officers work at the scene.


A male person has been arrested in connection with the murder and remains in police custody.


Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Darren George, said:


“I can confirm a murder investigation has commenced following the discovery of a man’s body, the area around Heol Catwg is a close knit community and I urge anyone who may have information in connection with the investigation to please contact the incident room at Cokcett Police Station, no matter how insignificant you feel the information may be.  I am particularly interested in activity in and around the Heol Catwg area of Caewern between Monday April 25th and the afternoon of Wednesday April 27th.  There will be an increased presence in the area over the coming days as officers continue with enquiries, I would also like to thank the local community for their support to date”.
