South Wales Police launch a murder investigation after man, 21, dies following alleged attack outside pub.

A 24-year-old man from Penywaun, Aberdare has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

A 21-year-old man has died following an alleged attack outside a pub.

In the early hours of Sunday, October 17, officers were called to reports of an assault on a man outside the Colliers Arms in Penywaun, Aberdare, just after 1am.

The man was taken to Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales where he has since died.

On Monday South Wales Police said a 24-year-old man from Penywaun has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

A police statement said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have taken footage or photographs of the incident on a mobile phone or may have dashcam footage around that time.”

Detective Chief Inspector Mark O’Shea said: “Our inquiries into this incident are ongoing but we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed an altercation outside the Colliers Arms on Sunday morning around 1.10am.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have taken footage or photographs of the incident on a mobile phone or may have dashcam footage around that time.”
