Avon & Somerset Constabulary - Murder

Appeal for information following a murder and linked serious assault in Bristol, evening of Tuesday 9th October 2018.

Details of Incident

We continue to investigate two assaults in Bristol last night in which two men sustained serious injuries.

A man in his 20s was assaulted on Gill Avenue at around 6.50pm while a man in his 40s was attacked on Downend Road at around 8.30pm.

Both men were left in a critical condition.

Detective Inspector Mike Buck said: “I fully appreciate these two incidents are likely to cause concern among members of the public and I’d like to reassure them a thorough investigation is underway.

“While we are in the early stage of our inquiry we have reason to believe the two incidents are linked.

DI Buck added: “I’d like to appeal for anyone who was in the areas of Gill Avenue and Downend Road last night who saw the incident, or anything else suspicious, to contact us.

“I’d also like to hear from anyone with footage of the incidents, such as that recorded on a dash-cam.

“I expect there could well be motorists who drove past the Premier Store on Downend Road who could have captured something important without realising and I’d ask people to review their footage and share what they have with us.

“Any information or footage you have, regardless of how insignificant you think it might be, could prove crucial to this investigation.”
