Serious sexual assault of 17 year old female.

Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team are appealing for information relating to a serious sexual assault in Crawley at approximately 19:10 hours on Tuesday 9th March 2021

Witness Appeal - Sussex Police

At around 19:10 hrs on the evening of Tuesday 9th March 2021, a lone 17 year old female was walking her dog along the footpath that runs parallel with the A23 and the sports pitch at the Ifield Community College in Crawley. She was walking from the Ifield area and was planning to walk under the A23 underpass into the estate containing The Dingle. When she reached the entrance to the tunnel, she decided to turn round and head back home the way she had come and not go through the tunnel.

As she approached the corner where the path turned right, back towards Ifield Drive, she was attacked by a male who had followed her from the direction of the tunnel. The male forced her into the undergrowth and she was subjected to a serious sexual attack. She managed to fight off the attacker, who ran back towards the tunnel which passes under the A23. The victim ran back home, calling 999 as she did so.

The attacker is described as:-

A White male, Eastern European accent, late 20s, 5’10”, brown hair, stubble on his face wearing all black including a black hoodie with the hood up.

An E-fit image has been produced with the help of the victim and the person we believe to be the offender has been captured on CCTV footage.
