Detectives investigating a fatal road collision in Whitstable are appealing for witnesses.

The incident happened on Chestfield Road in front of the Chestfield Barn pub, shortly before 8.15pm on Friday 24 July 2026.

An 18-year-old man riding a motorcycle died at the scene following a collision with a white Mercedes A180. His next of kin has been informed.

It was reported that a man who had been travelling in the car then rode the bike away from the area.

At 9.50pm an 18-year-old man attended Canterbury police station voluntarily and was arrested in connection with the incident. He remains in custody.

The motorcycle has not yet been recovered.

Enquiries to establish the circumstances are ongoing and officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage of either vehicle before or after the collision to come forward.
