Detectives are appealing for information after a police officer was injured in a collision in Ashford. The officer, who was on foot and carrying out speed checks at the time, was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Vectra at 3.15pm on Friday 26 January 2024.

Detectives are appealing for information after a police officer was injured in a collision in Ashford.

The officer, who was on foot and carrying out speed checks at the time, was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Vectra at 3.15pm on Friday 26 January 2024.

The incident happened in Coulter Road, near the junction with Hedgers Way. The officer was taken to a local hospital, where he remains receiving treatment.

The car involved did not remain at the scene following the collision and is believed to have travelled along Tally Ho Road, Shadoxhurst before it was found in nearby Hornash Lane.

A 19-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and he has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are urging anyone who saw the incident, who has dashcam footage, or any other information to come forward.
