Murder - Gemma Cowey - Old Thorpe Hospital
Police in Norfolk have appealed for assistance following the fatal stabbing of Gemma Cowey in the grounds of Thorpe Old Hospital, Yarmouth Road, Thorpe St Andrew, Norwich shortly before 12.45pm on Friday 19th June 2020.
Details of Incident
The Ambulance Service were called shortly before 12.45pm on Friday, 19th June 2020 to reports of an injured female in the grounds of the Norvic Clinic, Yarmouth Road, Thorpe St Andrew, Norwich. On their arrival they found the female had received stab injuries. Despite the attempts of the Ambulance crew, the female was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has since been identified as Gemma Cowey from Norwich.
Detective Chief Inspector Phill Gray of the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Major Investigation Team said "This enquiry is at a very early stage. We are working on a number of lines of enquiry to how she came to be in the grounds of the clinic and the events that led to her death. I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Thorpe Old Hospital between 11am and 1pm on the 19th June 2020 who may have seen Gemma, either alone or with anyone else or who saw anything suspicious to contact my team through either this portal or through the Norfolk Police Control Room on 101 quoting Operation Kexby. I would particularly like anyone who has dash cam footage from the streets surrounding the Thorpe Old Hospital from midday onwards to contact us." Michael Cowey from the Norwich area has been charged with the murder of Gemma". DCI Gray added "I am keen to hear from anyone with knowledge about Gemma and Michael Cowey".
