Appeal for fresh evidence in unsolved murder case from 1990

Details of Incident

A Stoke on Trent taxi driver was found dead by dog walkers a short distance from his taxi in a remote farm track off Castle Road , Mow Cop on 22nd December 1990. Steven Johnson, aged 25 had been attacked and had knife wounds to his throat. Steven was a mild mannered man who was much loved by his family and friends.

The case remains open and is reviewed when new information is available to the Police to identify Investigative opportunities.

An arrest was made in 2014 following new information received, but a man from the local area was later released  without further action.

Detective Chief Inspector Jason Everett of Staffordshire Police's Major Investigation Department, believes 'the murderer still has connections locally and it is possible that , even after all this time, someone was told something or remembers something'. DCI Everett is hopeful that fresh evidence can come to light to help him catch the killer of Steven Johnson.
