We've launched an investigation following the death of a man who had been assaulted in Walsall.

 

We began investigating after the victim, a man aged 56, was assaulted outside an address on Wednesbury Road in the early hours of Saturday 11 October 2025.

 

He was taken to hospital with head injuries.

 

Having returned home, he was taken ill on Thursday 16 October 2025 and again taken to hospital, where he tragically died that evening.

 

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the man's death, but at this stage we are treating it as murder.

 

Specialist officers are in touch with the man's family, and we are supporting them as our investigation progresses.

 

A scene is in place on Wednesbury Road today, and officers remain in the local area.

 

We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage.
