We’ve started a murder investigation after a man has tragically died after being attacked in Wolverhampton.

We were alerted to a man in his 20s being taken to hospital with serious injuries at around 1.30am today (22 October).

Sadly, he was confirmed dead a short time later and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this deeply distressing time.

Following prompt enquiries we now believe he was attacked on a car park off Dudley Road.

We’re in the early stages of our investigation and a scene remains in place there while we carry out CCTV, house-to-house and other enquiries in the area.

There will be an increased police presence in the area as we seek to establish exactly what happened and offer reassurance to the community.
