Details of Incident

A 52 year old man fatally stabbed in Coventry has been named as Haji Choudhary Rab Nawaz as we continue to appeal for information.

Police were called on Sunday 2nd of October 2022 to the Jamiah Masjid & Institute - at the junction of Durbar Avenue and Queen Mary’s Road - at just after 9pm following reports of a fight involving a large group of men, some armed with knives, outside.

Despite the best efforts to save him, Mr Nawaz died a short time later.

In a statement his family said:

"We thank the emergency services for their tireless effort for trying to save our father.

We are hopeful in the police investigation and we, the family, want all those responsible to be brought to justice.

They have extinguished a dependable shining light of good, an innocent humble loving family man, our father, our brother, our friend, Haji Choudhary Rab Nawaz".

We're keen to hear from anyone with information which can help our investigation and ensure we get justice for Mr Nawaz.
