SYP - MURDER OF MARCUS RAMSAY
South Yorkshire Police investigation into the Murder of Marcus Ramsay. Public appeal for information.
Details of Incident
The detective leading the investigation into the death of a 35-year-old man in Sheffield yesterday (8 August) is urging witnesses to come forward.
Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Mark Oughton is particularly keen to hear from anyone who attended a house party at an address in Horninglow Road, Firth Park on Friday evening. It was at 12.20am on Saturday (8 August) that police were alerted to large scale disorder outside this address, with reports that a 35-year-old man had been stabbed.
The man, who has formally been identified this afternoon as Marcus Ramsay, was taken to hospital with injuries to his upper body. He sadly died shortly afterwards. A post mortem carried out yesterday concluded that Mr Ramsay died as a result of a stab wound.
Three others were also injured. The men, all aged 24, all received hospital treatment but have since been discharged.
As a team of detectives continues with enquiries, Senior Investigating Officer T/DCI Oughton, explains: "The answers to this investigation lie within the local community. I am aware that there were large numbers of people congregated on Horninglow Road due to a house party and I believe that many of them will have seen the altercation that led to Mr Ramsay being fatally injured.
“As we work to piece together exactly what happened and provide answers for Mr Ramsay’s family, it’s these people who we need to come forward and speak to us."
“I am urging anyone who saw what happened or knows who is responsible, to get in touch. Even if you think the piece of information you have is insignificant, it could prove vital to our investigation.”
If you were in Horninglow Road between Friday evening and Saturday morning and can help our inquiry, please contact us. Any mobile phone footage can also be emailed through to email@example.com.
