Investigation into collision at Fisher Lane, Cramlington at 6:55am on Monday 22nd January 2024.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward following a serious collision in Northumberland.

Shortly before 6.55am on Monday 22nd January 2024 police were alerted to a collision on the A1068 Fisher Lane in Cramlington, prior to the Foxton Mill roundabout.

Emergency services attended the scene where it was reported that two cars – a black BMW 3 Series 335d and black Volkswagen Jetta – had been travelling southbound on the road.

For reasons yet to be established, both of the cars have then separately collided with a tree that had fallen on the road.

The driver from the BMW – a 26-year-old man – was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains there in a critical condition. Nobody else was reported to have been injured.

As part of their investigation, officers continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward, and are especially keen to hear from anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have been driving on the A1068 Fisher Lane towards the Seaton Burn roundabout from 12am midnight until 7am on Monday, January 22. They would also like to hear from anyone who was travelling that route during daylight hours between 8am and 3pm on the same day who may have dashcam footage.
