Investigation into the murder of Melissa EASTICK on Tuesday 17th October 2023 in Stockton Terrace, Sunderland.


Shortly before 7.15am on Tuesday 17th October 2023 police received a report via the ambulance service of concern for a female at an address on Stockton Terrace in Sunderland.


The victim, who can now be named as 36-year-old Melissa Eastick had suffered injuries consistent with an assault. She was sadly pronounced as deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and continue to be supported by specially-trained Family Liaison Officers.


An investigation was immediately launched into the incident with officers now treating this as murder. A number of enquiries have been ongoing to trace those involved and establish the full circumstances surrounding the report.


A 40 year old male and a 38 year old male have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They have since been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.


Today, Thursday 19th October 2023, officers have appealed to the public for information that could assist the investigation. Your support could prove vital as we look to find answers for Melissa's family.
