Kidnap and Serious Assault Investigation

Police have launched an investigation after a 87 year old man was kidnapped from Lee Street, Oldham, seriously assaulted and dumped on Oldham Road, Rishworth on 15/09/24.

Details of Incident

Officers are appealing for information after an 87-year-old man was attacked and taken in a car across to West Yorkshire.

At approximately 9pm on Sunday 15th September, the man was walking home in Oldham.

As he turned onto Lee Street from Manchester Street, he was near to some garages/workshops when a black vehicle pulled up beside him. Two men got out and subsequently forced him into the vehicle.

The man was then blindfolded, with demands being made for money and his phone. During the incident, the man was threatened repeatedly, whilst being attacked and having his clothing ripped.

The man was eventually pushed out of the car on a dark road, believed to be near to the Turnpike pub in Rishworth. The vehicle made off, and the man was eventually able to find a house on Oldham Road in Rishworth where he received aid and a 999 call was made. This was around 10.40pm. It is believed it could have taken him up to an hour to get to the house.

Officers are now appealing for information and anyone who may have CCTV or Dashcam footage as they seek to find those responsible for the incident.
