Tanyaradzwa Julius Matera was reported missing on 24th October 2023 after he had not been seen for several days at his place of residence. GMP recorded ‘Julius’ as a high-risk missing person and began an investigation to locate him.
As a result of information received on Thursday 7th December 2023 police searched an area of rough ground and dense shrubbery at Broughton Cricket and Rugby Club - situated behind Great Cheetham Street West, Salford. The human remains of an adult male were recovered at this location. This male was identified as Tanyaradzwa Julius Matera.
Following an investigation it was determined that it is likely Julius lost his life on the evening of Friday 13th October 2023 or in the early hours of Saturday 14th October 2023.
It is now almost two years since Julius was reported missing and the investigation remains open.
Greater Manchester Police are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward. This includes CCTV, Dashcam, ring doorbell footage and mobile phone footage in relation to any of the above.
