Attempt Murder Investigation Launched

Two males stabbed on canal tow path close to Dale Street, Manchester on 16th August 2023


Details of Incident

An investigation has been launched by GMP’s Major Incident Team following a police response to an incident at around 6.30pm on Wednesday 16 August 2023.

Emergency services attended the scene, and it was established two men had been stabbed on Dale Street in Manchester city centre. One of the victims remains in a critical and life-threatening condition in hospital and the other has suffered serious injuries but is in a stable condition.

Three males were arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault, a 21-year-old man remains in custody and the other two males have been released with no charge.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Hughes of GMP’s Serious Crime Division, said: “One of the men continues to fight for his life in hospital, we owe it to both men who have suffered injuries and their families to find out exactly what happened to them and bring those responsible to justice.
