Disorder at Manchester United v Liverpool 02.05.21

This is the investigation into violence / disorder following demonstrations at Old Trafford Football Ground and the Lowry Hotel against the owners of Manchester United Football Club.

Details of Incident

On Sunday 02.05.2021 planned demonstrations took place by supporters of Manchester United FC, due to their dissatisfaction with the owners and their intention to take the club into a European Super League.

At these demonstrations there were instances of disorder / violence with some of the persons present forcing entry into the football stadium. Acts of violence were used against officials of the club and police officers present at the scene. There were further acts of criminal damage and theft.

Detective Inspector Andy Fallows of GMP's Major Incident Team said "we have commenced an investigation into the events at both Old Trafford football stadium and the Lowry hotel during the afternoon of Sunday 02.05.2021. What initially started as a peaceful protest ended in acts of violence by a small minority. I request assistance from members of the public in identifying those responsible and request that footage captured on mobile phones / media devices during the incidents be forwarded to the investigation team via the link.
