Murder Investigation Wigan
Officers from GMP Major Incident Team are appealing for information from the public with regards a murder which occurred in the area of the Wigan Parish Church, Bishopgate, Wigan approximately 7:30pm on Thursday 6th August 2020. (Use right/left arrow key or swipe to browse images)
Details of Incident
At approximately 7:30pm on Thursday 6th August 2020 members of the public were walking through the church grounds when they discovered the victim on the floor with head injuries. Despite medical intervention the victim sadly passed away.
The images shown relate to four males who are known to have got off a train, which stopped at Wigan Wallgate Station, (Southport-Manchester Victoria) a short time before the incident and walked together into the church grounds where the victim was later discovered. The same males were then seen to leave the church grounds via the gate on the corner of Crawford Street and King Street West.
The train is known to have left Southport Station at 6:39pm and stopped at the following stations prior to the Wigan Wallgate stop:-
Meols Cop. 6:44pm; Burscough. 6:52pm; Parbold. 6:58pm; Appley Bridge. 7:03pm; Gathhurst. 7:07pm and Wigan 7:13pm
