Murder investigation launched in Mappleton Drive, Mansfield
Details of Incident
A murder investigation has been launched following a fatal assault at a flat in Mappleton Drive, Mansfield on Tuesday evening (16 December).
The incident was reported at 7.19pm and paramedics were called to the property but were unable to save the victim, a 61-year-old man, from his injuries.
The victim’s family have been informed and are being supported by officers.
Three men aged 20, 20 and 22 have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.
A scene is in place at the property while specialist officers investigate the circumstances of this incident. Other scenes are in place in the local area as part of the investigation.
Detective Inspector Clare Gibson from the Major Crime team at East Midlands Operational Support Unit (EMSOU) said:
“We have stood up a team of police officers, detectives and specialists dedicated to understanding the circumstances of this incident.
“Whilst three suspects are in custody, we remain in the early stages of our inquiries and would ask that anyone with information that could assist us to please come forward.
