Operation ELTRIUM - Murder at Ilford Train Station

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward after a serious incident at Ilford Railway Station at 8:30pm Wednesday 4 December 2024.


Details of incident

Detectives at British Transport Police (BTP) have launched a murder investigation after Jorge Ortega, a member of staff at the station, sadly died in hospital on the evening of Friday 6 December following the serious assault on 4 December.

Officers from BTP's Major Crime Command are appealing for any information from the public who were at the station and may have seen or heard anything or be in possession of mobile phone, CCTV, social media or dashcam footage in relation to the incident. 

Police are trying to establish why this happened and are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
