Murder investigation regarding deceased male found at Highgate Lane, Plunger, 07/11/2023


Murder Investigation launched in Leicestershire

A murder investigation has been launched by detectives after the body of a man was found in a field in Plungar yesterday (Tuesday 07/11/2023).

Police were called to the scene, near Highgate Lane, at 3.30pm following the discovery of the body. It was reported the man was believed to have suffered a head injury and his death is being treated as suspicious.

 

In the early hours of today (Wednesday 08/11/2023), a 56 year old man from Grantham was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody.

 

A scene preservation remains in place in the area and officers from the Melton and Rutland Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA) will carry out reassurance patrols. The enquiry team understands there will be some concern within the local community, and they are working to establish the circumstances that led to the man’s death.

 

Leicestershire Police urges anyone with information to come forward.
