GMP are investigating after shots were fired at Gorton Cemetery, Thornwood Avenue, following the funeral of a well-known Manchester man on Tuesday 23rd April at approximately 1845hrs. We are appealing to members of the public for information and any mobile footage particularly from inside the cemetery before and at the time of the incident.

Details of Incident

On 23rd April 2020 at approximately 18:45hrs a male is believed to have entered Gorton Cemetery and discharged  a firearm, whilst a group of people attended a funeral and memorial.  The male was arrested shortly afterwards for firearm offences.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Claire Moss, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said:

“I would appeal to anyone who has any information to please get in touch and help us, as even the smallest detail can assist our enquiries.”
