Murder witness information appeal - Sussex Police
The Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team are investigating the unsolved murder of Jennifer KIELY, who was killed 16 years ago in the early hours of 22nd January 2005 on Eastbourne seafront.
Details of Incident
At just after 5am on Saturday 22nd January 2005 the emergency services received a telephone call from a member of the public who reported that there was a fire in a shelter on the lower promenade, Holywell, Eastbourne. Upon attendance the body of Jennifer KIELY was found. Jennifer had died as a result of a sustained knife attack. No one has ever been charged in connection with Jennifer’s death.
Jennifer was part of the Eastbourne street community and she was known to local charitable services such as the Salvation Army. She is also a mum to three children and a loved daughter and sister. Jennifer’s mother, Margaret has said;
“I always find the anniversary an upsetting time and there isn’t one day when I do not think about Jennifer and what happened to her”.
T/DCI Simon Dunn said;
“This was a truly horrendous crime against a vulnerable member of the community. Jennifer had children, family and friends who have all been devastated by her death and the fact that no one has ever been identified as her killer has meant no justice for Jennifer or her family. They all deserve to know what happened to Jennifer and who is responsible. We have forensic evidence which means we have the ability to eliminate people from our enquiry so please do not hesitate to come forward to report any information you have, either from the actual time or something you have heard or seen since the murder”
Crimestoppers are offering a £20,000 reward, for anyone who can provide information that will lead to the conviction of those responsible.
