Lincolnshire Police murder investigation following the death of Eddie Roberts 08/12/2024

Operation Snowdrop - Lincolnshire Police

Lincolnshire Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 55-year-old Eddie Roberts in Lincoln.

Officers attended Carholme Road just before 11.30pm on 8th December and discovered a man with serious head injuries.

He sadly passed away at the scene and his family have been made aware.

37-year-old Max Skidmore has been charged with manslaughter.

We are asking for help to piece together Eddie's last movements and who he had contact with.

We believe that Eddie was walking from the Queen in the West pub in Moor Street, Lincoln in the direction of Carholme Road at some point just prior to 11.10pm on Sunday 8 December, which is when we believe the assault happened and an ambulance was called.

It is not clear the exact route he took, and we are asking people who live in the West End area to check any CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage from between 10.45pm and 11.20pm which may show our victim walking along the street and eventually interacting with someone shortly after 11pm.

The enquiry team want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw a white Mercedes X-class pick up truck between 9pm to 11.30pm on Sunday 8 December in the following areas:

  • University Bridge
  • Carholme Road
  • Gresham Street
  • Newlyn Street West
  • Charlesworth Street
  • Wellington Street
  • Moor Street

We ask that people check their CCTV, doorbell, dashcam, or mobile phone footage so that we can piece together what happened.

If you do have relevant images, videos, CCTV or Dash-cam footage, please submit via the Portal form.
