Disappearance of Charlene Hobbs - One year since last sighting
Details of Incident
South Wales Police continues to investigate the disappearance of Charlene Hobbs.
July 24, 2025 marks a year since Charlene was last seen, and her disappearance is being treated as murder.
A reward of up to £20,000 for information on the murder of Charlene Hobbs remains available from the charity Crimestoppers.
To date the investigation has included:
• Ten media appeals
• 400 people, linked to the investigation, spoken to.
• 629 properties visited as part of house-to-house enquiries in addition to searches of derelict premises, vehicles, open land, and waterways.
• More than 1000 hours of public and private CCTV reviewed.
• 3300+ documents recorded.
• A £20k reward from Crimestoppers.
Further searches, forensic examinations, and house-to-house enquiries are taking place.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell, from South Wales Police, said: “The investigation into the disappearance of Charlene is complex and meticulous.
“Despite a huge number of enquiries, which are continuing, unfortunately no one has come forward with information about what has happened to Charlene or where she is.
“We remain committed to finding Charlene and a specialist team of officers and staff are focused on the investigation.”
The last confirmed sighting of Charlene is a mobile phone photograph taken at a property in Broadway, Adamsdown, at 06:07am on July 24, 2024.
The day before, July 23, 2024, Charlene, who has a distinctive dragon tattoo on her back, was seen on CCTV in Morrisons Local, Adamsdown.
DCI Powell added: “Charlene is a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a friend to many. We understand that this is an extremely difficult time and, like us, they are desperate for answers.
“Charlene’s family are supported by a family liaison officer, and we continue to communicate with them in line with their wishes, only to have contact when there is a significant development.
“If anyone has information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, please come forward not just for us, but for Charlene and her family.”
A 46-year-old man arrested in connection with the investigation has been further arrested and is on police bail.
