Details of Incident
Police are treating a collision between a white Mercedes vehicle and a cyclist in Norwich on Friday 8th May 2026 as Murder following the death of the cyclist and are continuing their appeal for motorists with dashcam footage to come forward.
Emergency services were called to Chartwell Road in the city shortly after 5pm Friday 8th May 2026 following reports a white Mercedes had deliberately hit a cyclist.
The rider, a man in his 50s, suffered serious head injuries. He has sadly since died.
The Mercedes driver – a man aged in his 40s - failed to stop at the scene. Following enquiries, he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving, drink driving and drug driving in Bignold Road, Norwich, shortly before 7pm. He appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court Monday, 11th May 2025 charged with attempted murder and driving offences.
Officers are appealing for any motorist who was driving along Chartwell Road and Mousehold Lane between 5pm and 5.10pm yesterday with dashcam footage to contact them.
They are also keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the driving style of the white Mercedes saloon before the collision.
