Leicestershire Police - Murder Investigation after a male died following Narborough Road assault on 17/08/2026.


Leicestershire Police Major Incident:

 

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man in his 20's died following an assault on Leicester’s Narborough Road, opposite the junction with Noel Street, at approximately 6.30am on Monday 17/08/2026.

 

The incident was first brought to the attention of police on Wednesday 19/08/2026, by a member of the victim’s family, who stated he was being treated for life-threatening injuries at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. He had been taken to hospital by the East Midlands Ambulance Service after being found by a member of the public at the scene. Subsequent enquiries by officers established that the male had been assaulted prior to being found. He sadly died as a result of his injuries on Thursday 20/08/2026

 

A 31-year-old male and 39-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy to commit murder.

 

Detective Inspector Kevin Hames and the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch. This incident happened on a main route in and out of the city at a time when people may have been travelling to or from work.
