Murder Investigation Launched in West Leicester
Details of Incident
A murder investigation has been launched after a man died in Mowmacre Hill in the early hours of this morning (Monday 29 September).
Just after 12.10am officers on patrol found a man lying on the ground in Modbury Avenue, off Red Hill Way. Officers carried out CPR, but he was pronounced dead by East Midlands Ambulance Service shortly after they arrived. No arrests have been made at this time and a scene preservation remains in place.
Officers remain in the area where the incident occurred this morning to carry out further enquiries and provide reassurance to the community.
Detective Chief Inspector Tim Lindley, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s (EMSOU) major crime team, is leading the investigation. He said: “Our enquiries to establish the circumstances of what happened is continuing today and I’d ask anyone who can help us to come forward.
“The area where the man was found and where an assault is believed to have occurred is residential and I’d ask people to check their doorbell and CCTV cameras if they have one. I’d also like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area and has a dashcam in their vehicle.
“In addition, I’d like to speak to anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious of unusual either late last night or in the very early hours of this morning.
“Any details you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think they are, could help.”
