We're continuing to investigate the circumstances but following enquiries we understand a group of men, who are suspected of being involved, fled on electric bikes.
Detective Inspector Francis Nock, from our major crime unit, said: "A man has been very seriously injured and we're determined to find out who was responsible for doing this.
"We're working round the clock to establish exactly what happened and we know there will be people who can help us.
