UPDATE: Murder investigation launched following death of woman in Leeds

Detectives investigating the death of a girl in Leeds are now able to formally name her as Chloe Watson Dransfield.
Chloe, who was 16 and from Gomersal, sadly died in hospital on Saturday (28 March) after being found unconscious in Kennerleigh Avenue, Austhorpe at around 6am that day. She had suffered stab wounds.
A fifth person, a 17-year-old boy, has been arrested today (Monday) on suspicion of murder.
He remains in custody, along with two women aged 18, a man aged 19 and a boy aged 17 who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder. All are from Leeds.
Chloe’s family have today released the following photo and have asked for their privacy to be respected. They have also issued the following tributes:
“My beautiful princess Chloe. I cannot put into words how I feel that you are not here with me.
“You are my life, my world, my best friend and I know that I am yours. I cannot live without you - I need you.
“You are stunning, confident, loyal, honest and my family-oriented princess.
“When you walk into any room it lights up with your bubbly personality. There is so much I could say. There’s a big hole in my heart that can never be filled.
“Your two sisters and big brother will always love and miss you to infinity. You will always and forever be in our hearts. Love Mum, Connor, Courtney and Cienna.”
“Our family is utterly devastated by the loss of Chloe.
“We miss every single thing about her. She was beautiful, full of joy, and had a wonderfully cheeky personality.
“She embraced life with such happiness, and she had her whole future ahead of her.
“Chloe was loved by everyone who knew her, and the absence she leaves behind is immeasurable.
“We will miss her forever, she will never be forgotten. Love you always and forever Dad, Sacha, Reuben, Mia, Amelia, Grandma, Grandad and Uncle Jordan.”
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team is now leading the investigation into Chloe’s death.
He said:
“Our thoughts remain with Chloe’s family at this incredibly difficult time. Our specially-trained officers continue to provide them with support.
“Our investigation into her death is ongoing and five people arrested on suspicion of murder remain in custody, as we continue to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

Detectives have now positively identified a female who died in Leeds yesterday (Saturday).
The female died in hospital after being found with serious injuries in Kennerleigh Avenue, Austhorpe, at just before 6am yesterday.
She is known to be a 16-year-old girl from the Cleckheaton area.
Her family have been notified and are now being supported by specially-trained officers.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Superintendent Marc Bowes, said:
“Following our appeal for further information yesterday, we have now identified the deceased as a 16-year-old girl from the Cleckheaton area.
“Her family have been informed and we are supporting them as they try to come to terms with what has happened.”
“Our enquiries into the incident which led to her death are continuing, and I would appeal again to anyone who was in the Kennerleigh Avenue area in the early hours of yesterday morning to come forward if they have any information which could assist our investigation.”
Four people - two women aged 18, a man aged 19 and a boy aged 17 – remain in custody today (Sunday) after they were arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder.

Officers were called at 5.55am today (Saturday, 28 March) to Kennerleigh Avenue, Austhorpe to reports of a young woman being found unconscious in the street.
She was found to have suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for immediate medical treatment, but was sadly pronounced deceased shortly afterwards.
The female victim remains unidentified at this time. Extensive enquiries are ongoing to identify her, so her next of kin can be notified.
Detectives are also releasing details of her identity in the hope that someone will recognise her from the following description.
She is of slim build and has tanned skin.
She is 5ft 2ins tall and believed to be in her mid to late teens, with green eyes and brown hair with darker roots and blonder ends. She also has fixed metal braces to her upper and lower teeth.
Four people - two women aged 18, a man aged 20 and a boy aged 17 - were all arrested from a nearby address on suspicion of murder.
All four remain in police custody and a scene remains in place while the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team carry out further enquiries.

“This is an extremely complex investigation where a young woman has sadly lost her life.
“We are treating her death as murder and have arrested four people in connection with it.
“Despite carrying out extensive enquiries throughout the course of today we have not yet been able to confirm her identity.
“We hope by releasing these details that someone will recognise her and come forward.
“I am also keen to speak to anyone who was in the Kennerleigh Avenue area in the early hours of this morning, or anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the vicinity.”
