Investigations continue following a Serious Assault in Warrington

Detectives are continuing their enquiries following the serious assault of a woman in Warrington.

Shortly after 4pm on Monday 13th October 2025 Police received multiple reports of an incident at a residential address on Manchester Road in Warrington.

Officers attended the scene and found a 55 year old woman had been stabbed. The woman was taken to Aintree Hospital by Air Ambulance where she remains at this time, and is currently described as critical.

A 61 year old man from Warrington was arrested at the scene in relation to the incident. He is currently being held in Police Custody on suspicion of Attempted Murder.

Two scenes remain in place at addresses on Manchester Road and additional Officers are also on patrol in the area to provide reassurance.  Anyone with any issues are urged to speak with an Officer.

Detective Inspector Eli Atkinson of the Major Investigation Team at Cheshire Police said

"Once again I would like to reassure residents that this is believed to be a domestic incident and there is no risk to the public. A 61 year old local man remains in custody currently assisting us with our enquiries.

The victim remains in hospital at this time and her family are being supported by specialist officers.  I would ask their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

As part of our ongoing enquiries we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the local area around the time of the incident and believes they may have witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious or unusual.
