Four arrests in day of action following disorder at Celtic's Premiership title celebrations

Officers investigating disorder following Celtic’s Premiership title win have arrested four men as part of a pre-planned day of action.

On Wednesday, 12 August, 2026, officers executed warrants at five properties in Glasgow and Lanarkshire.

Detectives were supported by colleagues from Greater Glasgow Division Violence Reduction Unit and attended at addresses in Springburn, Govanhill, Blantyre, and Bothwell.

Today's activity was part of a coordinated operation into the violence and anti-social behaviour which took place in the Trongate area of Glasgow, on Saturday, 16 May, 2026.

Two officers were seriously injured and three members of the public required hospital treatment.

Four men – aged 30, 30, 25 and 21 – have been arrested and charged in connection with various offences including assault, culpable and reckless conduct, breach of the peace and fireworks offences.

The two 30-year-olds and the 21-year-old are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, 13 August, 2026. The 25-year-old is due to appear on Wednesday, 26 August, 2026.

A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged on 30 July, 2026 in connection with the disorder and will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.

The total number of arrests, including those arrested on 16 May, 2026, is 24.

Superintendent Derrick Johnston, said: “Today's operation is the result of extensive work over a number of weeks and we will continue to carry out enquiries.

“I hope this day of action makes it clear to those involved that we will not give up and you will be brought to justice.

"Significant enquiries remain ongoing into this disorder which impacted communities, businesses, police officers and supporters.
