MURDER WILLIAM MCNICHOLL HAWTHORN DRIVE IPSWICH
Police in Ipswich are appealing for information in relation to the murder of William McNicholl. William, who was known as Billy, was found deceased inside his address in Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich on Wednesday, 1st January 2025. Billy was a familiar sight in the local area and town centre. He would usually be seen on his mobility scooter and accompanied by his beloved Staffordshire terrier. An 18 year old from the Ipswich area has been charged with Billy's murder and will stand trial in 2026
Details of Incident
Police in Ipswich are asking for the community's assistance after the body of William McNicholl, known locally as Billy was found inside an address in Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich on the 1st January 2025.
Officers were called to Billy’s address in Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich shortly before 6pm Wednesday 1 January 2025. Billy was sadly found deceased within the property and his family have been notified.
A Home Office post-mortem has been carried out and preliminary results indicate the cause of death as being from multiple injuries.
A murder inquiry is being led by Suffolk Constabulary’s Major Investigation Team.
Jake McMillan aged 18 years and from the Ipswich area has been charged with Billy's murder and will stand trial in early 2026 at Ipswich Crown Court.
