Details of Incident

Detectives investigating the murder of a man near Langford have renewed their appeal for information on the first anniversary of his death.

Police were alerted shortly before 7.30am on Thursday 6 February 2025 (06/02/2025) to reports of a burnt-out vehicle, believed to be a Skoda Octavia, located in a field near the B659 Langford Road.

When officers arrived, they found a body in the driver’s seat. The victim was later identified as 47-year-old Jesbir Singh Khela, known to some as Jessy, from Letchworth in Hertfordshire.

Seven arrests have been made so far in connection with the incident, but no-one has been charged.

Now, a year on from the tragic incident, the independent charity Crimestoppers is offering a £20,000 reward for information passed to them directly and anonymously that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Inwood, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: "A year on from the tragic death of Jessy, his family and friends still have many unanswered questions.

“We know that someone out there will have information that could help us find out what happened in the lead up to his death. Please do come forward and tell us what you know.

“If you don't want to speak to the police, you can speak to independent charity Crimestoppers, which is separate to the police. They will not share any of your details with us, and they are offering a reward of £20,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.”
