We’ve arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was left seriously injured after being attacked with a knife in Birmingham.
We were called to Lozells Road, shortly before 9am this morning, after a man in his 30’s was attacked in the street.
Paramedics gave the man treatment at the scene before he was taken to hospital by air ambulance with injuries described as life threatening.
Officers quickly arrested a 31-year-old man nearby on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken to custody where he remains as we continue with our enquiries.
Detective Chief Superintendent Ed Foster, who leads our Major Crime Unit, said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and would appeal for witnesses or anyone with any information including mobile phone or dash cam footage to please get in touch with us.”
We understand how distressing this incident is for the community and will have more officers in the area today to offer reassurance.
