Jinming Zhang murder investigation: Fresh appeal as Crimestoppers put up 20k reward for information

We are re-appealing for information on the murder of Jinming Zhang in Birmingham in 2022.

The 41-year-old was murdered at a flat in Moseley Street, Digbeth on 9 February 2022.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £20k for information on Mr Zhang’s murder.

We have previously released CCTV of the suspect who is described as black, aged in his late 20s at the time, around 5ft 4ins tall and of an average build. He was wearing dark clothing, a dark hat and a mask.

CCTV captures the suspect walking along Barford Street just before the murder.

A DNA sample from the suspected killer that was found at the scene was submitted for extensive forensic testing and found that the suspect is a man and there’s a 99.99% probability that he is black. However, there was no match found on the national DNA database.

Jenny Birch who is overseeing the investigation and appeared on Crimewatch today as part of the fresh appeal, said: “Someone out there knows something, and we won’t give up until we have answers.

“Mr Zhang was killed in such awful circumstances, and we will not stop until we find out who did this to him.

“People needn’t be afraid to come forward with names. The DNA sample we have means that we are able to quickly and easily eliminate people from our ongoing investigation.

“If you have any information no matter how small, please get in touch. It could be small to you, but key to our investigation.”
