Murder Investigation in West Street, Sheffield

A murder investigation has been launched following the tragic shooting of a woman in West Street, Sheffield

Details of Incident

A murder investigation has been launched following the tragic shooting of a woman in West Street, Sheffield.

We were called at 2.45am Monday 25 May, following reports of a shooting outside the One Four One bar in Sheffield city centre.

Following extensive enquiries over the last 36 hours, we believe the victim was most likely an innocent bystander who was on a night out in Sheffield to celebrate the bank holiday weekend.

While formal identification has not yet taken place, we believe her to be a 30-year-old woman from Sheffield and next of kin have been informed.

Following arrests in Greater Manchester and Sheffield, two men and one woman remain in police custody for questioning.

Detectives are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who saw a white Audi in the area or a disturbance nearby. The car is shown in the CCTV image, parked at the junction of Eldon Street and West Hill Street - opposite Tesco Express.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles, the Senior Investigation Officer, said: "We know there were loads of people in the area, either on a night out or working, who we have yet to speak to - they may have witnessed the incident or something of note beforehand.

"They may be from Sheffield or elsewhere in the country, they may have finished work in the night time economy or be a licensed taxi driver or someone's lift home.

"If you were in Sheffield in the early hours of Monday, please think back. Please check your photos, social posts, and dash cam for anything which may help us.

"If you weren't there but want to do your bit to help, please consider sharing this image on your social media channels. We need people beyond Sheffield to see it, and we know channels like TikTok and SnapChat could really help us in reaching those who were here for the weekend."
