Missing Person Appeal - Andrew Gosden

South Yorkshire Police appeal regarding the disappearance of Andrew Gosden

Details of Incident

Andrew Gosden was 14 years old when he disappeared in 2007.

Andrew lived in Balby, Doncaster with his parents and older sister. He attended Macauley Catholic High School where he was noted to be academically gifted, particularly in relation to mathematics, and had an outstanding attendance record.

On Friday 14th September 2007, Andrew dressed for school, said 'see you later' to his family and set off for school as normal.

However, rather than setting off for his bus, Andrew waited in nearby Westfield Park. A family friend later recalled having seen him there at 8:20am, sitting alone on a bench. It appears that he remained there until his family left the house. Then, he returned home.

He changed into casual clothing consisting of a black Slipknot t-shirt, black jeans and Vans trainers. He collected a handful of possessions including his bank card, a Playstation Portable (PSP) and placed them in a messenger bag which bore a number of patches relating to his favourite bands.

Although he took his games console with him, he left the charger behind.

He then left the house again. CCTV on Littlemoor captured him walking alone in the direction of Doncaster Railway Station.

At 09:08 hours, Andrew paused at an ATM and withdrew £200 effectively emptying his bank account.

He arrived at Doncaster Railway Station at 09:22, where he bought a ticket to London. The ticket vendor at Doncaster Railway Station recalled informing him that he could buy a return ticket for less than £1 extra, however, Andrew declined this, instead buying a one-way ticket.

Andrew travelled on the 09:36 train to London Kings Cross. Another passenger recalled him sitting alone, playing on his PSP throughout the journey.

His train arrived at Kings Cross Station, and he disembarked at 11:20am.

At 11:25 he exited Kings Cross Station and left the camera view.

Since that time there have been no confirmed sightings of Andrew. His whereabouts and reasons for travelling to London that day remain a mystery.

Andrew's family remain desperate for any news that would help them to understand his disappearance.

Andrew's family and South Yorkshire Police have repeatedly appealed to the public for any assistance they can offer.

Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Andy Knowles said:

"Sadly there have been no confirmed sightings of Andrew since 14 September 2007, at 11.25am in Kings Cross Station, London.

"Any new information which we receive is carefully considered, reviewed and investigated where appropriate. I have regular contact with Andrew's family, and they will be the first to be informed if there is any progress or updates in our investigation.

After all these years, it is extremely hard to predict how Andrew's appearance may have altered. However, there are some features that are unlikely to have changed. Andrew has a distinctive double ridge on his right ear.

He is also deaf in his left ear and has poor eyesight. He would need to wear strong glasses or contact lenses to correct his vision.

Does someone you know have gaps in their life history? Do you know someone with this distinctive double ridge on his right ear?

Is there someone in your life, your street, or your community that might be Andrew?"
