An investigation has been launched after a suspected firearm was reported to have been discharged in a Newcastle street.

At 5.50pm yesterday (Monday 14th September 2026), officers were informed of a disturbance on Henshaw Place in the Denton area.

It was reported that two people on an e-bike had pulled up behind a parked vehicle and a suspected firearm was discharged from one of the persons on the bike. The offenders then left the area.

No-one is reported to have been injured in the incident, and a full investigation has now been launched by Northumbria Police’s Major Investigation Team (MIT).

Officers are today appealing for anyone with information concerning the report to contact them.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage.

Detective Inspector Andrew Miller, of MIT, said: “Our investigation is at an early stage”.

“We would ask that anyone who has information regarding what took place to contact us.

“Your information – no matter how small or insignificant you think it may be – could help us to piece together exactly what happened.”
