Officers are appealing for information in relation to the death of a man.

A man, in his 50’S, became unwell outside the Sky Bar, Kay Gardens in Bury town centre on Wednesday 22nd July 2026 at 8:45pm after he had reportedly been assaulted.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition and despite the best efforts of doctors, he sadly died on Saturday 15 August 2026.

A man arrested on suspicion of assault has since been charged.

The victim’s family are being supported by specialist officers currently.

As our work continues, officers would like to speak to a man, who is believed to have been seen with the victim outside the Sky Bar at 7.30pm on Wednesday 22 July 2026.

Officers would also like to speak to anybody that thinks they have any information about the events that took place in and around the Sky Bar that evening.

Senior Investigating Officer Duncan Thorpe, who is leading the investigation, said: “While a man has been charged in connection with this case, our enquiries remain ongoing and we are continuing to piece together the events of that evening".

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was at or around the Sky Bar in Bury town centre on Wednesday 22 July and may have seen this incident or has information about what happened".

“No matter how insignificant you think the information may be, it could prove vital to our investigation. I would urge anyone who can assist to come forward and speak to us".

“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time, and specially trained officers continue to support them.”
