OP WICKMAR - INCIDENT OUTSIDE BRIXTON ACADEMY

At approximately 2100 hrs on Thursday the 15th of December 2022 a large crowd grew outside The Brixton 02 Academy where a Nigerian Afrobeats singer/songwriter; Asake was performing. A number of the group surged forwards attempting to gain entry. This caused panic and several people to be crushed in the crowd surge. Approximately eight people were taken to Hospital for treatment, four are in a critical condition and its believed many others are injured.


Police are appealing for information regarding a crowd surge incident at The Brixton Academy SW9

Detectives are investigating a Major Incident at The Brixton Academy. Shortly after 2100 hours on the 15th of December a large group gathered outside the venue. Members of the public surged forwards to gain entry. In the disorder a number of people suffered serious crush injuries and required medical attention. Police are appealing to anyone who attended the venue to come forward with valuable information. We are dedicated to establishing what caused this incident.
