Murder Investigation Launched in Nottinghamshire

Police investigating the death of a woman have now charged a suspect with her murder.

Emergency services attended Nottingham Road, Eastwood, shortly after 11am on Friday (19 April), after the body of 53-year-old mum of three Rachel McDaid was discovered inside an address.

An investigation was subsequently launched by police, with a suspect arrested on suspicion of murder soon after.

Detectives have charged Michael McDaid, 60, with murder, as well as for possession of a Class B drug on 21 April 2024.

Detective Chief Inspector Clare Dean, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “As we announce this charge today, my thoughts remain with the family, who must be going through the worst pain imaginable.

“Specially trained officers are in the process of providing them with support and this will continue during this difficult time.”
