Murder Investigation Launched in Derbyshire

A man has died following a serious collision in Ilkeston in the early hours of  Saturday 16 December 2023.

Samuel Wilson, from Long Eaton, was struck by a van along with two other men on the Market Place just after 2am on Saturday 16 December.

Despite attempts to save him, the 26-year-old died at the scene. Two other men were taken to hospital for treatment for injuries and are now recovering at home.

One man, believed to be the driver of the van, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently in police custody.

At this time, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, and do not believe it is terrorism related.
